Diesel average is above $3 per gallon for fourth consecutive week

By ·

The United States Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported that the average cost per gallon of diesel gasoline saw a 1.6-cent increase to $3.086 per gallon.

With this increase, the diesel average has topped the $3 per gallon mark for the last four weeks, coming in at $3.028, $3.025, and $3.070, respectively during that period.

Compared to the same week a year ago, the diesel average is up 52.8 cents.

And the average price per gallon of West Texas Intermediate Crude oil is trading at $64.15 per barrel, which is down from last week’s $65.56.

MarketWatch reported that this is the lowest finish for WTI crude since January 22, adding that the drop in prices is in line with the sharp drop in global stock markets, with a stronger dollar and rising U.S. crude production sending U.S. benchmark crude to its lowest finish in two weeks.
