Salzburger EisenbahnTransportlogistik GmbH (SETG) presented its new Siemens Vectron high-performance electric locomotive on 15 December. The design of the now fourth electric locomotive from the design series with Salzburg motifs is inspired by the anniversary of 200 years of “Silent Night” and is now a rolling ambassador on European rail routes.

To celebrate the 200th anniversary of the song Silent Night, SETG employee Daniel Grabner has created a special design for one of the 15 high-performance electric locomotives of the SETG fleet. SETG’s Managing Director Gunther Pitterka comments: “The song Silent Night touches people worldwide, regardless of their origin or nation. We want to honor this song with our specially designed locomotive and be ambassadors in Europe. “

As part of SETG’s block train systems, the jubilee locomotive will be used throughout Europe for numerous SETG customers. The design locomotive was solemnly unveiled by Peter Schröder, the mayor of the Silent Night community Oberndorf. “The presentation of the Silent Night-locomotive is the prelude of the great anniversary year 2018 “, he declared.

The model railway holding company based in Salzburg is already making its contribution to the anniversary year, launching the Roco model of the “Silent Night” electric locomotive. “With the Vectron series, Roco is expanding the locomotive family by adding the latest development from Siemens,” says product manager Christian Auerweck. “We are delighted about this special edition and we are convinced that our customers will be delighted, too.” Mayor Peter Schröder was the first to receive the model and will present it as part of the special exhibition in the Silent Night Museum.

As part of the festive event, SETG Managing Directors Gunther Pitterka and Mauricio Zieger handed over a cheque to the amount of EUR 5.000,- to Heide Janik, Head of the Salzburg Children’s Cancer Aid.

Salzburger EisenbahnTransportlogistik GmbH (SETG) based in Salzburg offers European block train solutions for wood, chemicals, vehicles, paper/pulp, steel, combined freight transport and agricultural products. The fleet comprises about 30 modern high-performance electric locomotives and diesel locomotives as well as more than 300 wagons. The disposition is controlled from Salzburg.
