Third-party logistics provider Panalpina has established a new entity to focus more on expanding global supply chain management services.
The company has created a new entity called Supply Chain Solutions to expand the existing team of experts and further invest in technology and infrastructure.
Panalpina’s new unit will help to provide customers in multiple industries with solutions to manage their supply chains from end-to-end.
The company has included all of its supply chain experts under one centrally organized entity, which is headed by Hans Elmegaard.
Elmegaard will report to Panalpina chief commercial officer and executive board member Karl Weyeneth.
Panalpina’s new supply chain unit experts will work on the global and regional level in different positions such as solution developers, supply chain analysts, solution designers and engineers.
The new unit will offer services, including cargo consolidation and de-consolidation, vendor and carrier management, inventory and purchase order management and optimization of freight forwarding services and logistics set-ups.
Weyeneth said: “Our ambition is to become a top global player in supply chain management. The new organizational structure allows us to be even more customer-centric and better seize the many untapped opportunities that lie in the provision of end-to-end solutions across key industries.”
Elmegaard said:“There are two fundamental ways companies look at their supply chains: Some companies regard them as a pure cost factor, other companies think of them as a strategic enabler for their business.”
In November, Panalpina has decided to consolidate three logistics centers into one facility of about 7,000m² within the modern logistics centre in Pavlov (Panattoni Park Prague Airport II), close to Vaclav Havel Airport Prague.
The new facility enables Panalpina to carry out shipments to customers across Europe, effectively facilitating Czech exports.
With operation in over 90 countries, the Panalpina Group provides air freight, ocean freight and logistics services to different industries.
