Independent British freight forwarder Davies Turner has launched a new oceanfreight service from the UK to the US, to strengthen its North American freight services.
Ther company has also partnered with FCL Fisker Customs & Logistics, based in Ontario, Canada, to boost the transatlantic freight and logistics operations between the UK and Canada.
In partnership with the logistics firm EMO Trans Charleston, Davies Turner has introduced the fast oceanfreight service from the UK to the port of Charleston, South Carolina, US.
The new operation, named as Southern Express Service, will enable Davies Turner to quickly supply consignments by operating from Southampton to Charleston on every Tuesday in a nine-day transit series.
The freight forwarder also offers services for LCL and FCL shipments in Toronto every week. On the arrival of the containers, the in-house customs brokerage and comprehensive distribution network of Fisker will help in clearing and distributing the consignments across Canada.
Davies Turner head of North American services Steve Turner said: “Even though the service is calling at Charleston, efficient oncarriage operations by our partner EMO-Trans means we can market this as an express product into the southern US states.
“The fastest direct service from the UK into Houston or New Orleans is approximately 16 to 18 days. We believe that via our Southern Express Service, we will be able to deliver to most of Florida, Texas and Louisiana in 13 to 14 days, to door.”
“The new partnership with FCL gives us an ideal opportunity to further strengthen the two-way services that we operate between the UK and Canada, just as the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement between the EU and Canada kicks in, which should initially provide a boost for business and trade between the UK and Canada.”, Steve Turner added.
